We’re looking for passionate and talented professionals of all backgrounds —including Indigenous professionals (First Nation, Inuit, Métis) who are ready to make a difference!

About the Opportunity

  • Role Title: Discipline Lead, Ontario
  • Reports to: SOAR Operations Lead
  • Office Base: The SOAR Ontario Office located on the traditional territory of the Mississauga’s of Scugog Island First Nation.
  • Location: Anywhere in Ontario (with regular travel requirement to the SOAR Ontario Office and an expectation to support/build a localized team).
  • Type: Full-Time, Management

The “Why” Behind this Role

Our firm, SOAR, is at a pivotal point of growth. We have spent five years building a reputation for excellence, deep client relationships, and high-impact delivery. As our market opportunities expand across Ontario, we need a provincial leader who can manage our Ontario delivery engine, optimize our active project backlog, and help us scale seamlessly.

But this is not a standard corporate discipline lead role. We are looking for an Indigenous leader to actively unlock, shape, and scale our Ontario operations.

As our Discipline Lead, you will report directly to the SOAR Operations Lead, and work closely with the President. Your primary responsibility will be maintaining a healthy, balanced backlog and ensuring our delivery team executes as our sales pipeline converts into active project work. You will bring a balanced understanding of management consulting, people skills, resource optimization, and operational forecasting.

Importantly, you will be joining an Indigenous led, staffed, and owned firm. At SOAR, we have built an approach to managing accountability for the positive impacts we aspire to across the territories we operate in. Rather than following external templates, we measure our impact through our own firm-wide scorecard, created specifically for our team: the Indigenous Shared Success Approach. Your leadership will be central to keeping our Ontario operations, pipeline, and backlog aligned with this model.

Core Mandate & Responsibilities

In this role, you will become central in the Ontario delivery engine, reporting directly to the SOAR Operations Lead. Your mandate is split across three key pillars:

  1. Operational Sovereignty, Delivery, and Backlog Execution (~50%)
    • Systematize Delivery: Standardize our consulting methodologies, work with our staff to implement these systems, and design frameworks to ensure consistent, high-quality deliverables across our entire active project portfolio.
    • Quality Management: Implement our quality control systems for project and proposal delivery. In this role, you will work closely with our early career staff in developing their technical skills while ensuring our deliverables meet the quality standards expected of a highly respected consulting firm.
    • Resource Optimization and Technical Skills alignment: Manage team capacity, help with project staffing, guide development planning for our Ontario staff based upon technical needs, and forecast future resource needs based on our forecasted sales pipeline. You will determine when and how we scale our Ontario bench to meet backlog demands.
  2. Strategic Partnership & Pipeline Leadership (~30%)
    • Collaborate closely with the SOAR Operations Lead: Partner with our Operations Lead to align our sales pipeline with actual delivery capacity, ensuring we never sell what we cannot execute to the highest of quality standards.
    • Champion our Shared Success: Own the integration and execution of our Indigenous Shared Success Approach scorecard across all Ontario staff, ensuring our team is continually held accountable to our high standards of positive community and business impact.
    • Mentorship: Build, mentor, and physically grow a high-performing, culturally grounded consulting team around you in your local region of Ontario, creating an environment where talent can thrive and progress rapidly.
  3. Pipeline Optimization & Backlog Diversity (~20%)
    • Prioritize First Nations-Led Work: Actively manage our pipeline to ensure the majority of our active backlog consists of projects working directly for First Nations clients or First Nation-run organizations.
    • Cultivate Strategic Diversity: Strategically integrate select opportunities with government and industry partners who are genuinely committed to real, measurable progress in the communities we live and work in.
    • Maintain Backlog Sustainability: Understand and champion the need for a healthy, diverse backlog (balancing First Nations, aligned governments, and aligned corporate clients) to sustain our operations, grow revenue, and maximize our positive impact across the province.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

We are looking for a unique blend of consulting expertise and leadership skills.

Essential Requirements:

  • Indigenous Identity: This role is part of a special program to increase representation of Indigenous Peoples. In accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code, preference will be given to qualified candidates who self-identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit. Knowledge of Indigenous communities and business landscapes in Ontario is considered an asset.
  • Proven Consulting Experience: 7+ years of experience within management consulting, with a proven track record of managing complex client engagements, project budgets, and active backlogs.
  • Education: Post secondary education is required and a master’s degree is preferred. A Degree or diploma in Planning, Environmental management, Engineering, Business or related fields are all acceptable with the right combination of experience.
  • Operational Management Excellence: A strong understanding of consulting economics. You know how to read a business development pipeline, anticipate staffing bottlenecks, and organize a chaotic workload into a smooth, predictable delivery engine.
  • Location & Team-Building Mandate: You can reside anywhere in Ontario, but you must have the vision and leadership capability to build, recruit, and manage a localized consulting team, which may require direct visibility to the staff under your guidance.
  • Willingness to Travel: You will travel to the SOAR Ontario Office on the traditional territory of the Mississauga’s of Scugog Island First Nation at least once per quarter. Travel will also be required across the province to support active project work and facilitate Ontario-wide team-building initiatives.
  • High Trust & Alignment: As a direct report to the SOAR Operations Lead, you must value transparency, open communication, and be excited to champion our Indigenous Shared Success Approach.
  • Key Competencies: Innovative, proactive, can build with limited direction, leadership capability, organizational and communication skills.

What We Offer

  • An accelerated growth path, which means as we scale our pipeline and backlog, your career trajectory will scale with us.
  • An industry-leading amount of time off, benefits and ownership opportunities.
